Hartford Mayor Pedro Segarra Announces More Progress on Winter Storm Recovery Efforts

Parking Ban is Lifted; Schools Open on Thursday

(February 13, 2013) – Mayor Pedro E. Segarra made the following statement regarding Hartford’s winter storm recovery efforts.

“All streets are passable, 90% of streets in the Central Business District are cleared curb to curb. We’re focused on hauling the snow out of here and widening streets as much as possible. Our progress is evident. The EOC closed today and we’re getting back to normal. Schools will be open tomorrow.”

Below are further updates.

  • All Hartford Public Schools will open Thursday, February 14, 2013 with a one hour delay;
  • The Parking Ban will be lifted Citywide at midnight tonight;
  • All vehicles parked in school lots need to move by 6am on Thursday;
  • Privately owned sidewalks need to be cleared by Thursday;
  • Trash collection will resume next week on a Holiday schedule starting on Tuesday;
  • Clean up efforts continue with snow blowing and/or hauling;
  • A crew of fifteen is removing snow from neighborhood commercial routes and street intersections;
  • Eleven city crews are removing snow from city sidewalks and;
  • Ten crews are removing snow around bus stops, ramps, and school routes.
