Mayor Segarra Committs $2.5 Million to Improve City Streets
(May 8, 2012) --- Mayor Pedro E. Segarra announced today that Hartford’s 2012 paving project is expected to begin on Tuesday, May 15.
Roadway milling will commence first, following by roadway paving scheduled for May 22.
“Last year we invested over $5 million dollars in improving our city streets, and this year we will commit an additional $2.5 million. All told this year, we expect to complete about 50 streets; coupled with last year’s 70, we will have milled and repaved over 120 streets or sections of major roadways in 2 years. Investing in roadway improvements is critical in that it affects our residents’ quality of life and has a dramatic impact on how visitors perceive Connecticut’s Capital City,” said Mayor Segarra.
Update on May 14:
As inclimate weather is expected over the next several days, the City of Hartford's milling and repaving work, which was originally scheduled to start tomorrow, will instead commence on Wednesday, May 16 at about 7:00AM. If a determination is made to further delay the project start time, we will update the media and community organizations accordingly.
