HARTFORD PURSUING DEVELOPMENT OF PARCELS SURROUNDING DUNKIN’ DONUTS PARK

HARTFORD PURSUING DEVELOPMENT OF PARCELS SURROUNDING DUNKIN’ DONUTS PARK

HARTFORD, CONN (July 18, 2018) – Today Mayor Luke Bronin and City Council President Glendowlyn L.H. Thames announced that the City of Hartford is pursuing the development of land surrounding Dunkin’ Donuts Park with RMS Companies of Stamford, Connecticut.  No development deal has been agreed to and there will be substantial discussion with the City Council as well as with the public as the process moves forward.  In November of 2017, the City issued a Request for Proposals (RFP) for city-owned properties around Dunkin’ Donuts Park.  In March of 2018, the RFP window closed, and RMS Companies was the sole bidder.  Over the last several months the City reviewed the proposal from RMS Companies.

“After the RFP process, the city began discussions with RMS Companies about the future of parcels around Dunkin’ Donuts Park,” said Mayor Bronin.  “RMS has a sound reputation, a strong track record, and a serious plan for development, and our discussions thus far have been productive and positive.  We will continue to do our due diligence and work to negotiate a responsible agreement for the development of these key parcels, and we look forward to involving the community directly as the process continues.”

“There is real community and economic development momentum building in our city driven by the private market and I am encouraged by RMS Companies’ plan to develop the Downtown North area and see the vision through,” said Council President Thames.  “I look forward to working with my Council colleagues and the Mayor toward a deal that is a win-win for Hartford.”
