MAYOR BRONIN NOMINATES DIRECTORS FOR HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES, EMERGENCY SERVICES AND TELECOMMUNICATIONS DEPARTMENTS

HARTFORD, CONN (September 29, 2017) – Today Mayor Luke Bronin announced that he is nominating Liany Arroyo, MPH, CPH to serve as Director of Health and Human Services and Susan Webster, ENP, RPL, to serve as Director of Emergency Services and Telecommunications.  Both nominations are subject to City Council confirmation.

“I am very pleased to announce Liany and Susan’s nominations,” said Mayor Bronin.  “A Bridgeport native, Liany has more than 16 years of experience working on health equity, health policy analysis, and multicultural health education.  Her most recent work on teen pregnancy prevention at a national level is highly relevant to some of our ongoing work in Hartford, and I am thrilled to have her leading our Health and Human Services team.”

For the last four years, Liany Arroyo has been a Director at the National Campaign to Prevent Teen and Unplanned Pregnancy in Washington, D.C.  Before that, she worked for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services in the Office of Minority Health, and spent more than a decade at the National Council of La Raza, working on a range of public policy issues and managing a wide variety of projects.

“Susan brings a wealth of experience in public safety management to her role with the City, and she will be a key member of our public safety team,” said Mayor Bronin.  “We are very fortunate to have found someone with such a strong track record here in Connecticut, and I am proud to welcome her to Hartford.”

Susan Webster has spent a decade as Executive Director of the Northwest Connecticut Public Safety Communications Center, a regional 9-1-1 communications center that has served municipalities throughout Connecticut for nearly 40 years and is now the largest emergency communications center in the State.   Before that, she spent nearly a decade in various public safety management and operations roles in New Britain and Waterbury.
