Mayor, Police Chief to Hold Press Conference Regarding Dartanyon Blake Case

(March 27, 2012) --- Mayor Pedro E. Segarra will join Police Chief James Rovella and the family of Dartanyon Blake tomorrow to ask for the public's help regarding the Hartford resident's assault and subsequent death. The event will be held on Wednesday, March 28, 2012 at 2:30 p.m. in the City Hall Function Room, 550 Main Street.

Dartanyon Blake, 39, was found lying in the roadway on Plainfield Street on Feb. 15, 2012. He was transported to St. Francis Hospital for treatment, but succumbed to his injuries on Feb. 27, 2012. The Hartford Police Department's Crime Scene Division is investigating the incident.

"At this time, we do not know how Dartanyon was injured – but we know someone does," Mayor Segarra said. "I am asking anyone with information to come forward and help us to ensure justice for this young man and to ease this family's grief."

Hartford Police Chief James C. Rovella echoed Mayor Segarra's remarks, saying "No piece of information is too small to an investigation. Information one may consider insignificant, investigators may find to be of enormous value and importance. I encourage anyone who may have seen or heard anything of the incident in the vicinity of Plainfield Street on February 15th, 2012 to contact us."

Anyone who may have witnessed the incident or have information, no matter how slight, that could be of assistance in the investigation, is asked to contact Crime Scene Division Det. Michael Chauvin at 860-757-4229. Confidential, anonymous tips may be made both on-line and by phone at Hartford Crime Stoppers, 860-722-TIPS (8477).
