HARTFORD POLICE TO CONDUCT DUI ENFORCEMENT CHECKPOINT
(Hartford, CT.) – The Hartford Police Department Traffic Division will conduct a DUI Enforcement Checkpoint on Thursday, January 22, 2015, from 5:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m., in the area of 90 Brainard Road.
This checkpoint is part of the Hartford Police Department's ongoing expanded DUI enforcement program supervised by the HPD's Traffic Division and funded through a grant from the State of Connecticut Department of Transportation DUI Enforcement Program.

On January 16, 2015 at approximately 3pm, after an extensive covert investigation, detectives from the Hartford Police Department Vice Intell and Narcotics Unit (V.I.N.), executed two related search warrants (185 Barker Street and 1625 Park Street). Undercover Narcotics Detectives received reliable information that a known suspect involved in violent firearms incidents was tied to these locations and that he was in possession of several firearms and narcotics. A search of 185 Barker Street revealed a loaded firearm, 200 bags of heroin and over $10,000 in U.S currency. A search of 1625 Park Street revealed 2 additional loaded firearms, 28.4 grams of unpackaged heroin as well as 4,511 bags of packaged heroin, several items used to package drugs, as well as evidence consistent with a drug factory. The target of the investigation was secured and arrested as charged. The investigation is ongoing and further charges are pending and an additional suspect will be charged.
Arrested: Jose Felix, 26, of Hartford (convicted felon with 34 previous arrests)

On January 15, 2015, Hartford Police Department Detectives from the Vice Intelligence and Narcotics Unit and with the assistance of the ERT Team, executed a search warrant at 262 Maple Avenue. Detectives were able to obtain information that there were several firearms and narcotics "stashed" inside the apartment. A search of the apartments interior revealed firearms (3), numerous rounds of live ammunition, crack cocaine, marijuana and U.S. currency. The target of the search warrant was placed under arrest for various firearm and narcotics charges. 7 children were in the home at the time of the execution. DCF was notified.
Arrested: Joxell Mendez 25 of Hartford. CHARGES:
1. Possession of controlled substance
2. Possession of narcotics
3. Criminal possession of firearm (3 Counts)
4. PWITS Narcotics
5. PWITS Narco 1500 feet of school zone
6. Possession of a stolen firearm
7. Drug factory
8. (7) seven counts of risk of injury to minor
$450,000 Bond; Convicted Felon, 13 previous Hartford Arrests.
