Office of Management, Budget and Grants

Department Mission

The mission of the Office of Management, Budget and Grants is to provide professional financial forecasting, budget development and control, operations analysis, performance reporting and grants management to Hartford's elected leadership, executive management, department directors and constituents enabling them to make informed decisions regarding the allocation and use of resources required to achieve City goals.

The strategic focus of the Office of Management, Budget and Grants is to:

  • Provide support to develop a long term fiscal sustainability plan for the City of Hartford

  • Provide accurate and rigorous financial analysis, forecasts and reporting

  • Lead the budget process to support the Mayor in preparing the Recommended Budget and the Court of Common Council in preparing an Adopted Budget in order to ensure financial stability by balancing service demands with available resources.

  • Monitor department expenditures and fund transfers and maintain position control in order to ensure compliance with the adopted budget and City financial management policies; and

  • Aggressively pursue grant opportunities to support programs, services and overall administrative priorities.
