Civi Engineer III

POSITION

Vacancy is in the Department of Public Works. Under general supervision, provides advanced professional engineering services in the areas of investigation, location, design, construction and maintenance of engineering projects for the City’s infrastructure improvements. Prepares engineering plans, designs, and contract bid packages, including plans and specifications for City improvement projects. Provides construction management for various projects. Conducts research, as necessary, and gathers and analyzes factual and statistical data to provide requisitions for future planning and improvement. Provides programs for citywide infrastructure improvements. Supervises employees and/or consultants engaged in preliminary surveys, plans, and estimates for the construction or reconstruction of streets, curbs, sidewalks, and drainage improvement. Traffic Operations Engineer

 

POSITION

 

Vacancy is in the Transportation Services Division of the Department of Public Works. Under direction, assists in the administration of a citywide traffic engineering program by planning, supervising and participating in the activities of a major traffic engineering functions. Plans, supervises, and participates in the installation and maintenance of traffic control devices. Drives to various parts of the City to monitor the installation and the operation of traffic lights. Assists in the planning, development, and operation of a citywide parking program for both on-and-off street facilities. Attend public meetings and public hearings during evening hours. Respond to various requests for traffic calming including maintaining bus shelters, poles and paving markings. Coordinates and reviews management operation of city-owned parking facilities to ensure compliance with the terms of contracts. Works with the Department of Finance in creating the necessary financial accounts and procedures and in setting up proposed operating and capital budgets. Represent the Director of Human Resources when requested, and interpret departmental policies, and functions at meetings with City, State, Federal and other agencies. Prepare budget estimates and exercise budgetary control over the funding of a major human resources program. Exercise responsibility for the career development and in-service training of staff members. Vacancy is in the Labor Relations Division of the Human Resources Department. Under general supervision, assists in the administration of major and complex personnel functions in labor relations. Develops and maintains working relationships with City management and union representatives; serves as a hearing officer; and may investigate grievances. Actively participates, at times in a lead capacity, in labor/management meetings and/or negotiations; interprets and administers collective bargaining agreements; advises City Departments on employment and labor related issues; and participates in a variety of surveys and research studies related to the area of labor relations. Also assists in State Board of Mediation and Arbitration hearings and Board of Labor Relations proceedings. May participate in recruitment, examination, classification, and salary administration activities as assigned.
