The Hartford Families, Children, Youth and Recreation Department/Recreation Division offers a multitude of safe and quality programs that will focus on physical fitness, health awareness, sports, arts and crafts, cultural activities, and nutrition for residents of all ages and abilities.

Most programs are open and free to Hartford residents.  Some programs have limited enrollment and will be filled on a first come, first served basis. Applications and more detailed information on activities for kids, families and seniors, will be available by calling 860-757-4880 or visiting our neighborhood centers.

Hoop It Up Hartford youth plays 3-on-3 basketball against other Connecticut cities
Youth Flag Football Youth ages 8 to 14 learn the basic skills of football in a fun, positive
and professional environment
Halloween Parties It’s a cornucopia of harvest and Halloween events for young ghosts
and ghouls of ages 8 to 18 at Arroyo, Metzner, and Parker Memorial
Community Centers
Holiday Community Dinners The City partners with community-based organizations to provide
holiday dinners
Youth Traveling Basketball Team Youth ages 8 to 14 can join an elite junior basketball team representing
Hartford across the state
Rising Star Basketball League Youth ages 8 to 14 learn basketball and leadership skills while receiving
education support and mentorship
Coach Jim Calhoun Holiday Meals Coach Jim Calhoun and friends help families with a full holiday meal
Intramural Basketball The City’s Intramural Basketball program promotes league competition
for youth ages 16 to 21 at all skill levels
