Youth Service Corps

ysc2

YSC1  In response to Hartford’s youth unemployment crisis, Mayor Bronin partnered with community stakeholders to provide hundreds of Hartford’s young people, including at risk youth, with part-time, yearlong employment doing valuable community service projects.

Hartford's unemployed youth program provides an opportunity to earn a paycheck while strengthening neighborhoods. Youth will have yearlong, part-time employment with flexible scheduling, and they will engage in community service-based projects designed to visibly impact Hartford neighborhoods. Program will provide youths with mentorship, assistance in building life skills, and support and employment YSC2services.

Towards the end of the year of service, each youth will work with their YDS to create a “transition plan” for the next steps towards their future. These plans will use the assessments and goals developed in the creation of the Individual Success Plans at enrollment, the progress made towards those goals during their year of service, and help youth to map out a path forward to success, better prepared after their involvement in the Hartford Youth Service Corps.
