The Small Business and Community Development Division creates and initiates community-based strategies to build strong neighborhoods, enhance economic opportunities, and ensure a dynamic framework for quality growth and community development.  Our vision is to create a vibrant, prosperous and growing Hartford through exceptional community development, for families and commerce.

In the summer of 2019, we proudly awarded sixteen Hartford small businesses with grants of up to $7,500.

Special Events manages the approval process for parades, parties, and other cultural events held on public property while protecting the health, safety and public welfare of the general public, event participants, and attendees. Each successful event showcases Hartford’s cultural diversity.
