The mission of the Assessment Division is to estimate the fair market value of all real property, personal property, and motor vehicles, to establish the fair and equitable levy of local property tax. The Assessor is the local government official responsible for establishing the fair market value of all real property, personal property and motor vehicles for local property tax purposes. Property is assessed in each town as of the October 1st assessment date, pursuant to Connecticut General Statute §12-62a. The City implemented a revaluation for the October 1, 2011 Grand List.
The Board of Assessment Appeals will meet Saturday September 12, 2015 from 9am-1pm in room 212 at City Hall for the sole purpose of hearing appeals related to the assessment of motor vehicles. (§12-110) Walk-in only, no appointments.
