GOVERNING FOR RESULTS

Hartford’s venture in Governing for Results was initiated in 2005.  Governing for Results enables the City to be more responsive to what constituents want, find better and more cost-effective ways to deliver City services, proactively identify and prevent waste, corruption or fraud, and hold City officials accountable for the best use of tax dollars.  The Office of Management & Budget, under the direction of the Chief Operating Officer, worked with all City departments to develop strategies and objectives in the Budget process to meet the Mayor’s five over-arching goals:

1.     Hartford is a safe city

2.    Hartford residents realize their highest potential in social, work

       and community life

3.     Hartford enjoys a robust economy and thriving neighborhoods

4.     Hartford is a clean and healthy city

5.     Hartford government is operationally sound and financially healthy
